ROADS policing investigators have launched a renewed appeal for witnesses to come forward following the horrific crash that led to the death of a 19-year-old man.

Four men were inside a black Lexus car that struck a number of parked vehicles at the junction of Vista Road and Queens Road, Haydock last month.

A rear seat passenger in the Lexus, a 19-year-old man from St Helens, was taken to hospital but he passed away.

The victim was named online by friends as Adam Edwards.

The driver of the vehicle and two other passengers were taken to hospital with serious injuries following the incident, which happened on Wednesday, December 11 at around 8.40pm.

Three weeks after the horror smash police said the driver of the car, a 25-year-old man from Newton-le-Willows, is currently in a serious but stable condition. The other passengers, a 25-year-old man from Wigan and a 26-year-old man from Newton-le-Willows are "both stable and in recovery".

Police enquiries are ongoing and include examinations of CCTV and dash-cam footage. The Star understands police believe the car was travelling at high speed.

Investigators are trying to piece together how the Lexus was being driven in the moments before it left a trail of devastation after striking concrete panels, trees and three parked cars and a van.

Inspector Stuart McIver from Merseyside Police said: “We are continuing to appeal for anyone who witnessed the collision or captured anything significant on dash-cam footage to contact us as they may have information which is vital to our investigation.

“We have spoken to a number of witnesses however our enquiries continue and we believe there are other people out there who may have seen the vehicle in the area before the collision happened.”

An online fundraising page was set up to help with the costs of Adam's funeral. On the page, friends wrote: "I can't believe I'm writing this with such a heavy heart, this boy lost his whole entire life, a life taken too short and believe me when I say this: he did not deserve this.

"He was the best lad you ever had the privilege to meet and did anything and everything for anyone.

"He has left a massive hole in not only our hearts but Haydock's.

"Any donation big or small will go a massive way so we can give him the send off he deserves.

"RIP Adam our blue eyed boy."

On the morning of the devastating incident, a resident, who wished to go only by the name Danny, said: "This is the fifth crash in five years down here and I don't know how fast that Lexus was going but it was going at some speed.

"We've got a wide pavement on this road and the cars were parked on it. If it hadn't been then they wouldn't have slowed down the car and it would have crashed straight through our front window and killed my wife sat in the front room.

"I went to grab her, I really thought it was coming in and she was going to die.

"That's not an exaggeration. It sounded like a jet engine going off and it ripped the door off my van, and wrote off two others.

"It was 8.30pm for god's sake. Kids are still walking around at that time, easily someone else could have been killed.

"I felt like I was in the army again in Beirut, honestly that's what it was like.

"The damage you're seeing here isn't half of it. We've had people here all night removing the cars and all the bulky damage.

"We've got to deal with this now right before Christmas, thousands of pounds worth of damage and someone has died.
