A NEIGHBOUR has described the horrific moments a speeding car crashed and ended up in front garden of his home, leaving one passenger dead and three other men seriously injured.

A black Lexus, which police believe was travelling at high speed, struck a number of parked vehicles near the junction of Vista Road and Queens Road, Haydock, at around 8.40pm last night, Wednesday, December 11,

Four people were inside the black Lexus car.

A rear seat passenger in the vehicle, a 19-year-old man, was taken to hospital, and died from his injuries.

His next of kin have been informed.

St Helens Star:

The driver of the vehicle, a 25-year-old man, and two other passengers – a 25-year-old man and a 26-year-old man – were all taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The incident left a trail of devastation, with concrete panels and trees being ripped up and three parked cars and a van damaged.

A resident, who wishes to go only by the name Danny, said: "This is the fifth crash in five years down here and I don't know how fast that Lexus was going but it was going at some speed.

"We've got a wide pavement on this road and the cars were parked on it. If it hadn't been then they wouldn't have slowed down the car and it would have crashed straight through our front window and killed my wife sat in the front room.

"I went to grab her, I really thought it was coming in and she was going to die.

St Helens Star:

"That's not an exaggeration. It sounded like a jet engine going off and it ripped the door off my van, and wrote off two others.

"It was 8.30pm for god's sake. Kids are still walking around at that time, easily someone else could have been killed.

"I felt like I was in the army again in Beirut, honestly that's what it was like.

"The damage you're seeing here isn't half of it. We've had people here all night removing the cars and all the bulky damage.

"We've got to deal with this now right before Christmas, thousands of pounds worth of damage and someone has died.

St Helens Star:

"The council have been told that this road is an issue, time and time again. It's time they did something about it."

A police spokesman confirmed the teenager who died is from St Helens and the three men who are injured are from Newton-le-Willows.

The Lexus had been travelling north on Vista Road heading towards the East Lancs Road when it collided with a parked red Ford Connect van, a blue Ford Fiesta, a black Vauxhall Corsa.

It then entered front gardens of a three properties before colliding with a grey Vauxhall Mokka.

St Helens Star:
