AN action-packed programme of family-friendly festive events got underway in St Mary’s Market over the weekend.

As part of the annual Christmas lights switch on in the market, singer Josh Hindle – who is behind the only touring tribute to Michael Bublé – performed a number of the Canadian star’s hits during three 30-minute shows in front of an audience in the café area.

Also in the market that day, there were meet and greet appearances from everyone’s favourite cheeky Christmas characters, the Grinch and Shelf Elf – as well as Saints mascot, Boots – while a Christmas crafts market – on every Saturday now until Christmas – added to the festive flavour.

But all the festive fun does not stop there, because this Saturday, December 14, The Grinch and Shelf Elf will return to St Mary’s for more mischief – while not-to-be-missed children’s entertainment will be available through a puppet and magic show at 11am and noon, as well as balloon modelling from noon to 3pm.

Then on Saturday, December 21, Ultimate Party People will bring the events programme to a close by putting on a show to remember.

Join them between 12.30pm to 4pm for an afternoon of face painting and more exciting activities which have made them the leading entertainment company for children in the North West.

Elsewhere, Father Christmas and real reindeer will return to Church Square on Saturday, December 14, where boys and girls can share any last-minute Christmas wishes between noon to 4pm.

While earlier that day, hundreds of people are expected to take part in St Helens Sports Development’s Santa Dash fun run in Victoria Park at 11am.

Don’t forget: parking on all council-run town centre car parks is now free on Saturdays until the end of January 2020.
