A KNIFEMAN was arrested after being tasered by police in Whitecross in the early hours of this morning.
Officers were called to Wellfield Street at around 1am today, Thursday.
The suspect, who was allegedly carrying a knife, was shot with a stun gun before held on suspicion of possession of a bladed article.
Forty-six-year-old Thomas Maughan, of Wellfield Street, has since been charged with this offence.
He was due to appear at Warrington Magistrates Court earlier today in order to face these charges.
