VIOLET pavements have been installed on Prescot Road in memory of four-year-old hit-and-run victim Violet-Grace Youens.

Plans were announced earlier this month with roadworks under way for most of November.

These were not only to alter road markings and to install new traffic lights, but have also included a permanent tribute to a special little girl.

On March 25, 2017, a tragedy struck St Helens, when four-year-old Violet-Grace Youens from Eccleston, was struck by a speeding stolen car on Prescot Road while with her nan.

St Helens Star:

She died the next day from her injuries and went on to save two lives through organ donation.

Her nan suffered life changing injuries.

Violet's parents Glenn and Becky Youens have fought to create a lasting legacy in her memory, creating a charity and aiming to change the law for tougher sentences for dangerous drivers who kill.

In partnership with St Helens Council they have also sought to make the road where she lost her life safer and after talks, it was decided that the crossing where she died will be partly paved violet in her memory.

Today the works were officially finished.
