LAST night, despite the cold, hundreds of residents took over Church Square to watch St Helens be lit up at the Christmas Light Switch On.
The event saw performances from a host of artists including MD Productions, Danny Woods, the Skylights and more, but it was the headlining band Bulsara and his Queenies who had the square dancing and singing away to the famous Queen hits.
The town lights were switched on by 11-year-old Mason Naylor who recently won the Child of Courage Award at the Pride of St Helens Awards after overcoming Stage 3B lymphoma, and the family of Joey Tildesley-Devine, the other Child of Courage winner, who sadly did not feel up to facing the crowds.
However they all gave him a little cheer.
