A HAMMER-wielding robber who was jailed for an off-licence robbery is now the centre of a police manhunt.

Terry Hathaway, from Middlemass Hey in Stockbridge Village, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court in February 2017 where he pleaded guilty to robbery, possession of an offensive weapon and possession of a Class A drug.

Police were called to the shop on Lugsmore Lane, Thatto Heath just before 10pm on Friday, January 13, following reports that a masked man entered the shop and threatened a shop assistant and her 15-year-old daughter, who was on work experience.

However, when challenged by another customer Gordon Howard, he pulled out a hammer.

Hathaway was jailed for three years and four months but was released from prison in 2018.

However, police have today confirmed that a manhunt is currently underway to put him back in jail for breaching his terms of release licence.

Hathaway, now 39, is white, 5ft 9in tall, or proportionate build, with brown hair and blue eyes. He is also believed to frequent the North Wales area.
