POLICE arrested a man on suspicion of possession of drugs after being called to reports that someone had a knife at a park.

Officers attended Thatto Heath Park on Monday afternoon (November 18) after receiving reports that a man was suspected of carrying a knife.

Police say they did not find any weapon but did arrest a man on suspicion of possession of drugs.

A police spokeswoman said: "We stop-checked a few people and found somebody on suspicion of being in possession of drugs who was arrested."

In a social media post, St Helens Police said on Monday: "Local Policing are aware of an incident involving a male suspected to be in possession of a knife in Thatto Heath Park.

"A male has been stopped and searched. No knife was located however he has been arrested in relation to another matter. Please continue to report suspicious persons."
