FIREFIGHTERS have rescued one person from a house after a blaze broke out in a kitchen.

The blaze happened at a terraced house on Cowley Hill Lane, Cowley Hill this morning at around 7am.

Police, ambulance crews and firefighters are at the scene.

There are three fire engines in attendance

Cowley Hill Lane has been cordoned off near to the junctions with Duke Street and Dentons Green Lane.

A Merseyside Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said: "On arrival crews found a fire well alight in the kitchen of the property.

"Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued one person from the property. They have been taken to hospital by North West Ambulance Service.

"Crews used two high pressure hose reel jets to extinguish the fire and are currently in the process of damping down and hot spotting.

"Merseyside Police are also in attendance and are assisting with road closures."
