A SECOND teenager has been arrested by police as part of a murder investigation following a fatal stabbing in Bournemouth.

Detectives this evening have arrested a 17-year-old Bournemouth boy on suspicion of affray in relation to the incident in St Swithun's Road on Saturday night.

As previously reported, Dorset Police was called by the ambulance service to reports of a 20-year-old Bournemouth man having sustained stab wounds to his chest at 10.10pm on November 16.

He was taken to hospital where he died a short time later. His next of kin have been informed and the coroner has been notified.

A full investigation was launched, led by detectives from Dorset Police’s Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT).

The 17-year-old is currently assisting officer with their enquiries.

In addition, detectives have obtained an extension of 36 hours for the 18-year-old man from Bournemouth arrested on suspicion of murder and he remains in police custody helping officers with their enquiries.

Following the incident, a large area around St Swithun's Road was cordoned off by police and a white tent was placed over a car parked outside Bournemouth Pizza Co, near Holdenhurst Road.

Detective Chief Inspector Richard Dixey, of the MCIT, said: “We are making extensive enquiries to establish the full circumstances of the incident.

“I am appealing for anyone who has witnessed the alleged assault and has not yet spoken to police to please come forward.”
