A MAN has been sent to prison after a fight broke out at the Famous King and Queen pub in Padgate.

In March, police were called to the pub on Padgate Lane just after 11pm, following reports of a disturbance.

After a search of the area, the men were arrested on Orford Avenue in connection with the incident.

John Stokes, of Woodgate Street in Bolton, pleaded guilty to making racially aggravated threats to a police officer.

The 26-year-old was fined £300 by Warrington Magistrates' Court and ordered to pay £200 in compensation.

Christopher Ward, of Vine Street in Wigan, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday after admitting to two counts of assault and using threatening language.

The 20-year-old was handed a 14-month prison sentence.
