Celebration of life of Michael Lindley to take place today

Michael Lindley passed away on the night of Sunday, November 3 at Willowbrook Hospice, aged 63, following a battle with a brain tumour.

Michael, who lived in Dentons Green with wife Lynn Gerrard, was a much-loved man in the community.

He was a music-lover who hosted programme Brian's Indie Show for Radio KC live to support unsigned indie musical artists and was also known for his regular fundraising for the homeless and mental health awareness.

Michael has been described as someone who "worked relentlessly, without want for any personal gain" and is respected and much loved by many of the indie band scene for promoting their work both online and through his radio show on RKC-Radio Chaos Kaos Caribou.

Never one to blow his own trumpet, his happiness and fulfilment came from doing whatever he could to help others, especially those who were somewhat overlooked by society.

Wife Lynn Gerard, a well-known poet in the town, announced in an emotional Facebook post that a celebration of Michael's life will take place today, Tuesday, from 10.30am at St Helens Crematorium, followed by a wake at the Abbey pub in Dentons Green.

The celebration is family flowers only but donations to Willowbrook Hospice would be greatly appreciated.

Lynn said: "'Celebration' is the right word because there is so much to celebrate about the life of the beautiful human whose loving, caring heart touched the lives of so many.

"And as for myself, well, my Michael is my heart...every beat of it as he will forever remain to be."

People don't have to wear the conventional trappings of mourning and can wear whatever they you feel represents their celebration of Michael's life.

Lynn added: "This will not be an easy day for any of us, especially mine and Michael's family and close friends but amongst the tears let there be laughter. Let there be shared stories of the crazy, funny, altruistic, creative, artist and human he was and always, always let there be music, if it's only played in your head, 'cos where my Michael now waits for me to join him one day, in that great radio station in the sky I know he'll be getting his vibe on right now and sorting out a playlist to entertain other lively and music loving souls around him.
