A 31-YEAR-OLD man has died after a serious industrial incident, police have confirmed.

Emergency services were called to an industrial premises on Merton Street at around 4pm on Friday afternoon.

Police, the North West Ambulance Service and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service were in attendance at the scene following reports a man had been injured at the site.

Police have confirmed a man has died following the incident.

A Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service spokesman confirmed that they attended the scene to an incident, which involved a "cherry picker".

He said that the casualty was reached by emergency services, it became clear that he was "sadly deceased". 

Detectives and the Health and Safety Executive have launched an investigation into the circumstances.

A spokesman said: "Merseyside Police can confirm a 31-year-old man injured on Friday, November 8 in an incident at an industrial premises in St Helens subsequently died.

"Emergency services were called to the premises on Merton Street at around 4.15pm, to reports a man had been injured at the site. He was later pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.

"An investigation into the circumstances of his death is being carried out by detectives and the Health and Safety Executive.

"The man’s next of kin have been informed and a police family liaison officer is providing them with support at this difficult time."
