A MAN was arrested on suspicion of carrying a gun after police sealed off a busy road last night.

Officers were called to Parr Stocks Road, Parr at 4.45pm on Thursday, November 7 to reports of “concern for the safety of a man”.

Roads close to the Chop Shop barbers were sealed off amid reports a man had been seen with a weapon.

This sparked fears among neighbours of a major incident.

Police moved to calm fears and said there was no evidence of shots being fired.

A Merseyside Police statement read: “Officers attended and arrested a 29 year-old man on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

“Nobody has been injured and there is no suggestion that a firearm has been discharged.

“Enquiries are ongoing in the local area.”
