THIS weekend, Rainhill is going to look a little different, as more than 60 scarecrows set up across the community.

Rainhill's first Scarecrow Festival, which was the idea of Rainhill resident called Lindsey Smith with held from Facebook group Rainhill Rocks, is set to take place from Friday, November 1 to Sunday, November 3.

The community have jumped behind the idea, with businesses from all over Rainhill decorating their windows and venues with strange and wonderful scarecrow designs, as well as locals getting involved in the fun.

The event aims to be a family friendly fun day out where people can come by, pick up a map, and try to find all of Rainhill's scarecrows.

There will be one overall winner, judged by local farmer Alec Patton.

Jill Cooke, one of the members of the group and of Rainhill Rocks, said: "This has brought a big buzz around our village.

"Next year we are hoping to run the same festival but a lot bigger with a farmer's market etc.

"Our little village has come to life and we would love people from outside Rainhill to come into our village this weekend to take a look around and have a great day out."
