AN 18-YEAR-OLD was held at knifepoint and punched in the face as his car was stolen.

The teenager was parked up inside his silver Ford Fiesta, with two friends in Nutgrove near to Rainhill Road when the robbery took place.

As they were sitting in the vehicle, someone opened the driver’s side door and grabbed the keys out of the ignition.

The same person then brandished a knife, punched the driver to the face and demanded his mobile phone.

The driver then got out of his vehicle and noticed two other men running towards him.

The three offenders then got into the Fiesta and drove off.

The car was later recovered.

The robbery took place at around 9pm on Wednesday night (October 16).

A police investigation is underway and a spokeswoman says the driver was not badly injured by "left shaken" by his ordeal.

A Merseyside Police spokeswoman said: "We are appealing for witnesses following a robbery.

"An investigation is underway and CCTV enquiries are being carried out in the local area.

"The driver was not badly injured but was left shaken by his ordeal."
