EVERY neighbourhood has its famous faces, but not every neighbourhood has their own cat which regularly visits Aldi, a primary school and more.
Smokey the Cat is a legend in Newton-le-Willows regularly visiting the Aldi store, Wargrave House School, the homes on Vulcan Housing Estate.
A page dedicated to the antics of the eight-year-old feline has more than 1,000 followers, with residents regularly posting updates on Smokey's latest venture.
Strange thing to find in your trolley
His owners Lindsay and Jason Enyon, said: "When we moved to Newton in 2015, Smokey used to wander to the fishing pond on the new Vulcan housing estate where we live and sit with the fishermen who I have learned feed him luncheon meat.
"He also visits the Wargrave House School and interacts with the children there and once Aldi was built we have learned that he frequents there too.
"Shoppers at Aldi initially thought he was a stray and even now we often have to go and collect him and bring him home.
"He quite happily gets in the car when you open the door and sits on the parcel shelf.

"He also goes to other people’s houses on the estate and makes himself at home there.
"He has always been a bit of a character and gets up to all sorts, luckily he is well known and people don’t tend to mind too much.
"He also used to frequent the site office and Persimmon show home on the estate that we live on now and once even got locked in the show home overnight.
"Smokey has his own Facebook page with 1,073 followers where we post his antics and his followers can also post what he gets up to.
"It’s a good way of interacting with people as he is so well known in Newton.
"People have even posted on his page that they only come to shop at that particular Aldi to see Smokey the cat. So he’s rather a local celebrity.
"He’s also quite famous for his collars as we try to make sure that he has a seasonal or topical collar on.
"He has recently had a marvel superhero collar, we are just getting him a Halloween collar and he has a Christmas one, a poppy collar or poppy tag for Remembrance Sunday, a daffodil to support Marie Curie cancer care and also which doubles up for St David’s Day as we are both Welsh.
"The children at Wargrave House school are always fascinated as to which collar he might have on."
