This includes a vast range of memorabilia items relating to the rock band, many autographed, including tickets, cassettes, Vinyl records and a signed copy of a Morecambe and Wise Beatles script, which was bought for a price of £7,500, the joint-highest bid of the day.

Highlights items also included a set of Polaroid photographs featuring John Lennon and Paul McCartney, which went unsold.

These include a collection of photographs comprising of 18 Polaroids, three colour prints (3.5" x 3.5") and two black and white prints which are later copies.

The images were taken by Keith Moon's assistant Peter 'Dougal' Butler in April 1974 at John Lennon's rented house in Santa Monica, Los Angeles during the period in which Lennon was working on Harry Nilsson's 'Pussycats' album.

Regular visitors to the house included Keith Moon, Ringo Starr and Nilsson.

St Helens Star:

The album

The first pressing copy of The Beatles' Please Please Me is signed to the reverse of the sleeve in blue ballpoint by George Harrison, Paul McCartney, John Lennon and Ringo Starr, also with handwritten inscriptions from Ringo, Paul and George.

Also going on sale is a Beatles Wings Over Europe 1972 Tour Bus.

The open-topped double decker bus was used most famously by Paul McCartney and Wings, beautifully painted and decked out, during the 'Wings Over Europe Tour' of 1972.

Since the tour the bus (which originally entered service in 1953) was repainted, used by a hire company, latterly repainted, sold by Sothebys in the early 1990s and eventually found in a ravine in Tenerife.
