TRIBUTES have been left at the scene where a motorcyclist died in a crash on Saturday morning.

The man in his 30s, whose name has yet to be released died at the Rainford-Bypass following the incident, which happened at 11.15am on Saturday.

The crash involved a car and a motorbike.

Investigations took place throughout Saturday, with a stretch of the Ormskirk-bound carriageway closed until the evening.

Flowers were left at the scene over the weekend.

St Helens Star:

A bunch of red roses left at the scene with a message that read: "Can't believe I am here doing this. Can't believe you are gone."

Star readers, meanwhile, posted messages of sympathy on Facebook.

One wrote: "Sad news, so many motorcyclists are having accidents or dying. We hear about these things nearly all the time. I'm extra careful when I'm out.

"My thoughts are with the rider's family. RIP brother xx."

Another wrote: "God bless the families involved thoughts and prayers are with them."

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses.

A police spokesman said: “Officers were called to the scene on the Rainford Bypass at Mossborough Road at around 11.15am.

“The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is helping with enquiries.

“Road closures are currently in place on the Rainford Bypass at Mossborough Road and motorists are advised to avoid the area.

St Helens Star:

“Anyone that witnessed the incident, has dashcam footage or information that could help us in investigating this incident is asked to DM @MerPolCC or to call 101 quoting reference 362 of 5/10/19.”
