PLANS have been drawn up seeking to turn a soft play centre premises into a Salvation Army charity shop and donation centre.

Proposals have been submitted seeking to change the use of the former Gioco play centre on Ardwick Street in Fingerpost.

A planning application by the Salvation Army Trading Company says: "We propose to change the use of the property to enable the operation of a charity donation centre including charity shop for the selling, sorting and distribution of second hand and donated goods".

It adds: "The larger format of this type of property with onsite parking enables us to receive donations of and sell larger items such as furniture and bulkier electrical goods that we wouldn't have capacity for in our smaller high street shops".

'To Let' signs were seen being put up on the building in the summer of 2018.

The application adds the proposed use would bring the former play centre, which has been "vacant for 15 months", back into "economic use".

The planning application is on consultation until Wednesday, October 16.
