WEST END star Carley Stenson is bringing a flavour of Broadway to theatres across the country with her latest production Curtains.

Carley, who grew up in Billinge, recently finished her two year contract playing the starring role of Fantine in Les Misérables on London’s West End.

She says she felt “unsure of what was next” but decided to go back to her “comedy roots” and take a lead role in Curtains, a murder mystery comedy caper starring Jason Manford and Strictly star and presenter Ore Oduba.

Curtains tells of Jessica Cranshaw, star of a Broadway musical who has been murdered on stage. Detective Frank Cioffi (which will be played by Manford) is tasked with finding out the killer.

Carley will be playing Georgia Hendrix, the play’s lyricist who just happens to step into the murdered star’s shoes...

Speaking to the Star about her upcoming show, Carley, 37, said: “This show has been on Broadway and the amazing West End creators Paul Foster directing and Alistair Davis choreographing so I’m really excited to be part of this amazing cast and crew.

“It can be quite hard coming off a two year contract on something like Les Mis, I was unsure of what was next, but this is just perfect really, it’s a great production between the Mouse Trap and 42nd Street and it’s back to comedy. It couldn’t be more different to Les Mis.

“The dancing is so much fun. It’s so fun being part of all of the dancing again, you don’t realise how much you miss something until you do it again, all the cast are amazing, Jason has an amazing set of pipes on him.

“It’s exciting for me as well because we come to Manchester next so I have loads of family and friends coming to watch which is really fun.

“I’d recommend this show to my hometown audiences because you are getting a Broadway show, with West End and top stars coming to a theatre near you instead of having to book to stay in London.”

n The show opens this Friday, October 4 in Bromley before touring the UK until April 2020. For more information go to curtainsmusical.com.
