TRAIN services have this morning been affected by a points failure between Wigan Wallgate and Kirkby.
Northern Rail say that services have been disrupted due to the issue today.
Journeys travelling on the line, which includes a stop at Rainford have been affected.
A Northern statement said: "Due to a points failure services are unable to operate between Wigan Wallgate and Kirkby in either direction.
"Network Rail engineers have been allocated and will be on site at approximately 8.155am.
"Rail replacement transport has been requested and details of their schedules will be published as soon as they're confirmed."
