PLANS have been drawn up seeking to demolish four apartment blocks in Gillars Green and replace them with 36 new homes.

The proposed development would create 36 homes on the L-shaped site facing on to Millwood Avenue or Gillars Green Drive.

The existing apartment blocks are described as mostly empty with the remaining few residents set to be rehoused into a new development which is under construction at Millwood Avenue.

The proposed new homes in place of the apartment blocks are set to be a mixture of bungalows, semi-detached and detached houses.

These would consist of four two-bed bungalows; eight two-bedroom semi-detached homes; 10 three-bedroom semi-detached houses; seven three-bedroom detached homes and seven four-bedroom detached homes.

The proposed homes are to be a mixture of shared ownership and outright sale housing.

The planning application states: "The site consists of a number of apartment blocks which are providing residential accommodation. Most of the flats are vacant with only a few residents remaining.

"These residents are awaiting the completion of the project at Millwood Avenue which is currently being constructed.

"Upon completion of the project, the residents will be rehoused into the new accommodation, which will free up the site for redevelopment".

They add: "Part of the site along Gillars Green Drive has already been demolished".

Public consultation on the plans lasts until Tuesday, October 1.
