I HAVE read the abbreviated tracts from David Cameron’s memoirs.

To me it is just an exercise in self-pity to absolve himself from all the blame in his misguided judgement to hold a referendum over the European issues that had haunted his party over the decades.

He had been assured that the country would easily vote to remain.

He was so confident that he made a solemn pledge that he personally would honour the will of the British people and carry out their instructions making it clear beyond doubt that this referendum was a very simple yes or no question.

So what did the then Prime Minister do when his electorate voted to leave the EU?

He did the opposite of his pledge and resigned, leaving our nation to the mercy of the losing Remainers, costing us untold millions as this well orchestrated group took it upon themselves to turn our democracy into one not befitting a banana republic.

Myself, I must assume that they do not realise the very dire consequences of their actions if they succeed, on the sanctity of the rule of law and the trust between the ordinary people and their parliament, has been irreversible, and broken our system of government which was the envy of the free world.

No wonder Cameron is depressed but at least he can look forward to the remuneration he gets from the serialisation and sales of his memoirs whilst the rest of us pick up the enormous costs.
