The 40-year-old plants which had belonged to homeowner David Fairclough's late dad, are believed to have been taken on Thursday last week (September 12).

And David has issued a call-out to the community in case anyone has come across the plants.

"They were really heavy and really sharp as well, it must have been two people who did it,", said David.

"I think they must have walked past and noticed them. My dad had one in the garden and when he moved house he took it with him and when he died about six years ago I brought it back and out it into plants.

"I'm just wondering if they have been sold on, there's a bit of sentimental value as well and a bit of history.

"It's just something you don't expect to go to the trouble of stealing."
