IT'S time to nominate your heroes for the 2019 Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group Pride of St Helens Awards.

Organisers have confirmed that the annual ceremony will take place on Friday, November 8 at the Totally Wicked Stadium, home of the Saints.

The Star and the Steve Prescott Foundation have again joined forces for the awards, which are in their eighth year and aim to showcase the fantastic talent and bravery across this proud borough.

The awards have a new headline sponsor, the Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group, as businessman Andrew Mikhail maintains his association with the awards.

The owner of Eccleston Arms and Punch Tarmeys said: “I am once again elated to be able to support and sponsor these prestigious awards.

"The Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group like the Pride of St Helens Awards has gone from strength to strength in the past eight years.

"Even though we have expanded outside the borough our roots will always be in St Helens and will always support the incredible work of the Steve Prescott Foundation.

"The night will once again be an emotional rollercoaster and I can’t wait to meet all the inspirational people from our great town!”

Star readers can submit entries via the newspaper’s website and a judging panel will sit this autumn to choose winners.

Star editor Andrew Kilmurray said: "We established these awards to celebrate the best of St Helens and the great people and organisations from the borough.

"Their intention was, and still is, to raise aspiration and champion achievement, courage and selflessness.

"There are those that try to knock St Helens – but every week my team in St Helens report on the brilliant achievements of townspeople – often in the face of adversity. We should not lose sight of that.

"These awards are our chance to really give people the chance to shout loud and proud about their achievements, successes and bravery – so please nominate your deserving nominee and help us celebrate those who make our town great."

Martin Blondel, general manager of the SPF, said: "The Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group Pride of St Helens Community Awards is the highlight of the SPF calendar, last year we received more than 350 nominations celebrating the great and good within our borough.

"We anticipate smashing that number this year. It is so simple to nominate through the St Helens Star website and now it’s time give a little something back to those who give so much for others."

Nominations will close on Friday October 6th at 20.00.
