CANCER fighter Chris Carberry will host a second Chris vs Cancer Masquerade Ball to help pay for his treatment abroad.

Chris has had a rollercoaster journey since his diagnosis aged 19.

The 23-year-old from Rainford was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer, osteosarcoma in December 2015.

During his fight with the disease, Chris had his left leg amputated in March 2016 – a decision he described as “leg or life”.

Chris’ cancer journey has seen him blog about these experiences, writing words that have inspired others. This contributed to him winning the Pride of St Helens Courage Award.

Since then he has hosted many fundraising events to pay for his treatment after being told only palliative options were available on the NHS.

He is set to host his second Chris vs Cancer fundraising ball at Liverpool's Titanic Hotel on Saturday, September 28, with funds going towards his treatment.

Chris said: "I'm a work in progress, it is a constant fight to move on to the next thing and travel for transfusions and treatments but it means that I'm still here.

"In 2017 I thought I'd have a few months left to live with six or seven tumours but the treatment I'm having is working for now. That's why the fundraising is important, so when this treatment stops working and your body builds an immunity to it, you move on to the next one.

"I never thought I'd get the chance in life to meet the people that I have but the true reason I'm still here fighting is down to the amazing support of family and friends.

"They help me get to my treatments and organise events like this one, I hope everyone enjoys it.

"It's hard work to bring it together, but it's amazing how many people come out to support me, thank you everyone."

The Chris vs Cancer Masquerade Ball is a black tie event inspired by ‘Cirque Du Soleil’.

The event will include Red carpet photographs and drinks reception, a Three course dinner, Live entertainment from MD Productions, singer Olivia Parr and a live band (TBC), a Q&A with Chris and a live auction.

n All tickets are £65 per person or £650 per table of ten. To book tickets, email events@chriscarberry.co.uk.
