AN 11-year-old girl has been taken to hospital with a head injury after being hit by a car.
Warrington Road in Rainhill was shut both ways following the incident involving the girl and a Vauxhall Corsa.
The girl has been taken to hospital for treatment. Her head injury is not thought to be life threatening, police say.
The driver of the car stopped at the scene to assist with enquiries.
There is heavy traffic due to the accident between Kingsdale Avenue and Lawton Road.
The road has been closed since about 3.50pm.
