THREE men and three boys were arrested as part of Merseyside Police's mission to crack down on serious and violent crime.

Operation Target is a major policing operation, which aims to tackle serious and violent crime, putting the people responsible behind bars.

On Friday following a day of action, police in St Helens carried out 16 stop searches and numerous vehicle stops, which resulted in six people being arrested.

These included:

Two 53-year-old men arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article. Both were released under investigation.

Three boys – two aged 16 and one aged 14 – on suspicion of burglary at the former Air Factory Trampoline Park on St Michaels Road.

One 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drug driving. He was released under investigation.

As well as gun and knife crime, Operation Target also focuses on serious assaults, armed robberies and murder investigations. it also looks at wider issues such as violence in night time economy areas, county lines and drug use.
