HOW sad to see that The Citadel has closed and is up for sale.
I wonder if many people realise what a gem we have lost?
Many concerts this year were sell outs, famous groups have recorded albums here and people come regularly from as far afield to attend the shows.
Why are we losing this gem? Well one reason could be the council has not renewed an annual yearly grant.
In 2017 there were just short of 180,000 people living in the borough, so surely it is only a small sum per person to keep this wonderful theatre open for a year.
In one week, the council sent me four publications, including St Helens First.
How much does St Helens Council spend on this every year?
With no library and Wardleworths bookshop closing we really are becoming a cultural desert here.
