A COUNCIL building was evacuated after a bomb scare yesterday afternoon, Thursday.
Police were called to Atlas House in St Helens at around 2.35pm after a call was made that a bomb was at the scene.
After workers were evacuated and officers searched the Corporation Street site, it was discovered that the call was a hoax.
Police left the scene at around 3.30pm.

A police spokesman said: "We can confirm that Merseyside Police were called to a bomb hoax report at an address in Corporation Street, St Helens yesterday, Thursday, August 22.
"Following enquiries, the call was established as a hoax."
