A JUNCTION of the St Helens Linkway will close over this Bank Holiday weekend as transformation works take place.

The Sutton Hall junction of the A570 St Helens Linkway will close for the August Bank Holiday weekend as works to complete the junction transformation take place.

The closure will come into place from 8pm today, Friday August 23, and the junction will reopen at 6am on Tuesday 27.

A diversion route will be in place during the closure with signage redirecting all traffic.

While temporary controlled pedestrian crossing points and footway diversions will be also be installed to accommodate the works.

When the junction reopens on Tuesday, August 27 there will continue to be lane closures as the works to replace the existing roundabout by Mere Grange and Cooperative Food distribution centre with a traffic signal-controlled junction are completed.

The project will help make traffic flow more freely during peak times and see pedestrian and cycle crossing facilities introduced onto all arms of the junction, linking to existing pedestrian routes, and speed limits will be modified on the approaches to improve safety.

The Sutton Hall junction project has benefitted from funding from the £232 million Liverpool City Region (LCR) Growth Deal, secured from Government in 2014 by the LCR Local Enterprise Partnership.
