A PLANNING application has been submitted to make refurbishments to St Helens Crematorium.
Proposals for the crematorium on Rainford Road have been received by council planning officers.
The application is for the "re-modelling, refurbishment and extension to the existing crematorium building with associated external works".
The application states the crematorium will have an additional 120 metres of internal floorspace to the existing 950 metres.
It also says there would be one less than the 100 existing car parking spaces, with two for 'other' types of vehicles to be created.
Plans say there will be "new brickwork walls to match the existing" with a "new roof membrane behind new parapets to maintain the same visual effect from street level".
There will be "new double-glazed windows in new openings and glazed door and screen elements".
External lighting fixed to the building is to be renewed with some new paving outside and new macadam to the layby.
Proposals were received on July 25, with a decision deadline September 23.
