AS the Saints of 2019 look to win the big prizes here is a fantastic crowd picture from the all-conquering season of 1966.

Sheila Crehan (nee Morris), from Haydock, shared the photograph with the Star, which is from the 1966 Championship Final at Station Road, Swinton

Saints beat Halifax 35-12 in the match in front of 30,634, with hat trick-scoring prop forward Albert Halsall being awarded the Harry Sunderland Trophy as the man-of-the-match.

The final took place a week after the Challenge Cup final which saw Saints defeat Wigan 21-2 at Wembley.

Sheila is second from right in the picture and shared the picture with the Star with the possibility of Saints managing the double again this year.

Those in the picture are: (l to r) Amber; Edna Fairclough; Winnie Norton; Pam Kennedy; Sheila Morris; unknown.
