A 15-YEAR-OLD schoolgirl was on target as she qualified for the World Youth Darts Masters for the third successive time.

Cowley pupil Eleanor Cairns, who is also captain of Lancashire Youth, triumphed in the Staffordshire Northern Youth Darts Open to take her place in the tournament this October.

Nicknamed Miss Dynamite on the oche, Eleanor, from Queens Park, has been playing darts for four and a half years having started with the St Helens Darts Academy.

Other recent achievements of Eleanor's include reaching the last 32 in the ladies' Welsh Open.

"She's made up, she had a lot of practice sessions with a few different people and it's all coming into good use," said mum Cath.

"She's really excited to be going again and representing the Darts Academy.

"She just wants to keep going and do what she's doing and make a little name for herself. Her favourite player is Adrian Lewis and she has met Michael Smith, Dave Chisnall and Stephen Bunting.

"The ultimate ambition for her next year is to get some England recognition."

Cath, 46, added: "I'm very proud of her, her nickname is 'Miss Dynamite' and she is. She just needs to keep doing what she's doing."

The World Youth Darts Masters takes place on October 23 and 24 in Bridlington.
