THE broken-hearted family of a Rock Ferry teenager who died after being hit by a car will mark would have been his 19th birthday with a charity fundraiser.

Apprentice joiner Connor Smith, 16, was struck by a car on Old Chester Road on January 31, 2017 as he walked to work.

Tragically, Connor lost his life a short time later after being taken to Arrowe Park Hospital.

Connor's family were able to say their final goodbyes to him at Claire House's Butterfly Suite and say they are forever grateful for the support they have received from the charity.

So in order to give something back to Claire House, the family will mark what would have been Connor's 19th birthday with a fundraiser at The Bedford - 'Luke's' on Saturday, August 3.

Taking place from 5pm, the fundraiser will be an unforgettable night with a raffle, prizes, games and entertainment from Terry O'Shea all in aid of Claire House.

Wirral Globe:

Connor's cousin, Zoey Smith told the Globe: "Connor was hit by a car and killed on 31 January 2017, since then we have been broken-hearted.

"We are raising money for Claire House because it is where Connor rested while we had the chance to say goodbye to him.

"He was in the Butterfly Suite where we could sit with him and say our final goodbyes.

"The support we received from Claire house at that awful time was incredible and they still continue to support us to this day, we as a family could not be more grateful.

"My family have not been the same since we lost Connor, his family and friends are broken-hearted and we will never truly get over the loss of our beloved Connor.

"We hope as many people as possible could donate to Claire House not only as a thank you from us but to help fund their mission to make the seriously ill children in their care have the best life they can.

"Connor was the most energetic, happy soul and had the most beautiful smile. He had ambitions to go far in his career and always made his family and friends proud."

The “Connor Smith” 19th Birthday Fundraiser In Aid Of Claire House will take place on Saturday, August 3 from 5pm at The Bedford - 'Luke's' (180 Bedford Road, Rock Ferry).
