ST HELENS Council has issued a warning to residents after reports of 'bogus' dog wardens attempting to take pets from owners.

The local authority has received reports of men pretending to be dog wardens and attempting to take animals from their owners.

The incidents took place in Newton-le-Willows, the council said.

In a statement, St Helens Council said: "We have had reports that there are men posing as dog wardens and attempting to take dogs from owners. "Our dog wardens always carry photo ID, drive signed vehicles and are uniformed with the Council logo displayed."
