INDIE rockers Stillia are getting back together – less than 10 months after calling it quits.

The four-piece group from Sutton were a popular feature on the town’s music scene and had been tipped for the top before their split in September 2018.

However the band, made up of lead singer Jack Bennett, lead guitarist Connor Moran, Johnny Waring on bass guitar and drummer Matty Bennett, have revealed to the Star that they are getting back together for a performance this summer.

They will return by headlining a concert at The Gerard Arms pub in August.

Lead singer Jack Bennett, 22, said: “We were heartbroken when we split the band and always said if we ever did get back together we would do it where we started – in St Helens.

“Now the Citadel has closed there is no obvious big venue where you can hold these things, so I was made up when Mark at the Gerard said we could organise The Gerard Arms Festival and headline the event.

"We're back together for this festival and then will see what the future holds."

Speaking about their break-up he added: “It was really hard to be honest, the music business is a really cruel industry and they say that 80 per cent of artists fall.

"We aren’t ashamed to say that we fell, but we are climbing back over that fence together.

"For now we are getting back to what matters and why we do this – the music.

“We’ve been back in the studio and after that first song playing together again it was like we never stopped. We got such a buzz, it was electric and that’s because we love what we do.

“The support has been amazing and lit a fire under us to do something amazing to come back with a bang, even getting messages from New Zealand and everything.”

The Gerard Arms Festival on Saturday, August 10, will be an all day music festival at the Gerard pub – all in aid of Violet-Grace’s Gift.

"It will take place from noon to 9pm, with Stillia headlining."

Before they split up, Stillia had headlined venues in Manchester and Liverpool - and toured Down Under in support of 90s Indie band Ocean Colour Scene.

Looking ahead to the Gerard Festival, Jack added: “We wanted to give back to our community and the best way we could think of to do that is to raise money for Violet-Grace’s Gift and help that family and the charity they set up in her memory.

"That’s what we do in St Helens we support each other. This is our town, where we started and which has supported us from the beginning, even when we called it quits from the Parr Conny Club.

“We owe it to our community to give back, and it's a great way, and an exciting one, to get back into it for the right reasons.

“Honestly we are buzzing for it and hope to see you all there.”
