POLICE have arrested two men on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life after a fire at a house.

Emergency services were called to a property on Charnwood Street, Parr to reports of a fire on Saturday night (June 29).

An occupier was taken to hospital for treatment for smoke inhalation and his condition is described as stable.

Police and the fire service attended the address at around 10.30pm.

A 39-year-old man from St Helens was located and arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and criminal damage. He has been conditionally bailed pending further enquiries.

Meanwhile, a 37-year-old man from St Helens was also later arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. He has also been conditionally bailed pending further enquiries.

Police say enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
