THE council has issued a warning over illegal parking on a road on Saints match nights.
A resident contacted the Star to complain of cars being parked on Peasley Cross Lane, especially on the grass area, during match days.
The resident said: "The amount of illegal parking in Peasley Cross Lane is despicable.
"Rugby fans when the match is on park where ever they feel is convenient, especially on the grass verge which is maintained by St Helens parks and gardens team, no thought for anybody else.
"This is also near a very busy bus stop. Anyone else doing this would be fined, so disgusting to see this in this area."
When contacted about the matter, a St Helens Council spokesperson said: "Parking restrictions, such as double yellow lines, apply from the centre of the road to the back of the adopted highway.
"We can confirm that the grass area at the back of the footway opposite the industrial estate on Peasley Cross Lane is adopted highway and in future vehicles parked there will receive a Penalty Charge Notice."
