A MURDERER, a knife thug, a man who used Grindr to plot a sexual offence on a child and a man caught riding a stolen moped dangerously are among the criminals in St Helens to have been jailed over the past month.

Here are four offenders who received jail sentences in June:

  • Carl Harrison

St Helens Star:

A MAN who killed a mum-of-five after inflicting more than 100 knife wounds was jailed for life.

Carl Harrison, of Hignett Avenue, Parr pleaded guilty to the murder of his partner Rachel Evans at his home.

Prosecutor Ian Unsworth said: "It cannot be said what happened with precision but is clear that Rachel was the subject of extreme and horrific violence, she being stabbed or slashed over 100 times."

  • Mauricio Dorta Vinas

St Helens Star:

THE 31-year-old arranged to meet another man via the social media dating app Grindr to commit a sexual offence against a child.

Uruguayan national Mauricio Dorta Vinas, of Hopkins Close, in Old Eccleston, pleaded guilty to arranging/facilitating the commission of a child sex offence and was sentenced to six years in prison.

He was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register for Life and given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for life.

  • Frankie Parr

St Helens Star:

A knife thug who threatened a doorman after being thrown out of a town centre pub has been jailed for 21 months.

Frankie Parr, 30, of Corporation Street, St Helens was sentenced to 21 months in prison after he was found guilty in Liverpool Crown Court of possession of cocaine and threatening a person with a blade in a public place.

he incident happened at the Wheatsheaf Pub on May 2 when officers were called to reports of an altercation involving two men, one of whom was reported to have been in possession of a knife.

St Helens Star:

The 20-year-old was spotted by police riding a stolen moped recklessly and dangerously in Parr on Easter Sunday.

He came to the attention of police officers on Hammond Street and made off with the moped recovered nearby in Ramford Street.

Following enquiries it was discovered the moped was stolen, uninsured, and had been driven recklessly and at speed in a residential area.

He was given an eight-week jail sentence.
