A BABY was born on a motorway hard shoulder this morning.
Police officers came across a vehicle parked on the side of the M60, near Carrington, in the early hours of this morning.
They were shocked to find a woman had just given birth inside.
An ambulance later arrived at the scene and the mother and baby were reported to be "doing fine".
North West Motorway Police later tweeted to say the baby had been given the name Luke.
They tweeted: "GMP patrol just come across a vehicle on hard shoulder on M60, upon closer inspection was greeted with a female just given birth, Ambulance now on scene, first reports are Mum and baby doing fine, #newbabyjoy
"Pleased to announce baby been named Luke, May the force be with them."
