DANISH global furniture retailer JYSK is set to launch its new store in St Helens on Saturday.

The store on St Helens Retail Park, in the former Maplin store, is part of the multi billion pound company's wider expansion plans.

The opening will take place on Saturday, June 15 at 9am, aiming to bring Scandi style to the borough.

Twelve jobs have been created.

The opening weekend will offer customers a free ice cream (while stocks last and on production of their JYSK receipt) on opening morning and celebration prices of up to 70 per cent off.

National manager for JYSK UK, David Ashton, said: “We are accelerating our growth within the UK and St Helens is one of the first on the expansion trail.

"It’s a destination we have chosen specifically for our new-look concept store.

"St Helens customers will enjoy an attractive and inspiring store to spark ideas for their next big (or small) in or outdoor furnishing project.”

"We have a unique culture at JYSK with our Scandinavian leadership style, there is no management hierarchy and we celebrate everything together.

"In many parts of the UK we are an ‘unknown’, but with our 2,500 stores worldwide we have incredible buying power and that is how we can pass on fantastic offers to our customers every day.”

The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 9am on Saturday, June 15.
