ST Helens Council have now started legal proceedings to move on a group of travellers.
The group of around five caravans are parked on land close to SKK Judo Club in Newton-le-Willows and were yesterday served a 24 hour notice to leave.
However, after not moving from the area within that time frame, St Helens Council have today started legal proceedings.
A St Helens Council spokesman said: "The matter has been referred to our lawyer and we are just trying to secure a court date."
This is the third group of travellers who have parked up at sites across the borough, with one parking up at The Nine Arches beauty spot last week and another setting up camp at Lea Green Station.
Both have now left those areas.
