ONE road closed after torrential rainfall across the borough.

Weather warnings remain in place for much of Tuesday, with forecasters predicting that some areas of the UK could be inundated with up to 4in (100mm) of rain this week.

However in St Helens there has so far only been one road closure on Gerards Lane due to weather conditions, but St Helens Council has now cleared the water and it is reopened

A St Helens Council spokesperson said: "With more rainfall predicted to go into the evening and tomorrow our team will be on call to respond to any further flooding should anywhere be affected."
