A ST HELENS Town footballer who was in a critical condition after being hit by a car in March has celebrated his 18th birthday at home.

Alex Moffitt was struck by a grey-coloured Honda CR-V in the early hours of Saturday, March 23 in Maghull.

At the time, the teenager was walking along Kenyons Lane, near to the junction with Dodds Lane, when he was struck at around 1.50am.

Alex suffered serious head injuries and was initially taken to The Walton Centre for neurosurgery in a critical condition.

He has since made a good recovery and has bene undergoing rehab sessions.

Alex's dad Phil has been posting updates via social media to inform people of Alex's condition.

Each day, Phil has been posting 10 blue hearts for Alex. The blue heart symbolises a deep and stable love, trust, harmony, peace and loyalty.

On Wednesday (June 5) Alex got to spend his 18th birthday at home and it is hoped he can be discharged at the end of the week.
