POLICE have charged a man with various offences after officers pursued a suspected stolen car following a burglary in the early hours of Wednesday.

The Star reported yesterday that police were called to reports of a burglary at an address in Thatto Heath shortly after 4am during which three vehicles had been stolen.

A short time later one of the vehicles taken from the address was pursued by police through the Whiston and Prescot areas while another was found near to the address.

During the chase, a suspect made off on foot while the vehicle continued and was found hiding before surrendering to officers.

Meanwhile, a second was detained in the Greenhall Court area as the vehicle come to a stop.

A 16-year-old, from Huyton, and a 19-year-old man were arrested in connection with the incident.

Police have confirmed that Joshua Bennett, 19, of Mill Lane, Wavertree, Liverpool has since been charged with burglary of a dwelling; receiving stolen goods; driving a motor vehicle without a licence and driving a motor vehicle without insurance.

The receiving stolen goods charge relates to a separate alleged offence in Huyton.

Bennett is due to appear at Liverpool Magistrates' Court today (Thursday).
