TRANSPORT police officers were called to a railway station following reports of a "disturbance" on a train on Sunday evening.

British Transport Police attended Thatto Heath station at around 8.40pm on Sunday, May 26 following an alleged incident.

Police say it is believed that "two men" were involved in the reported disturbance on board a train which had travelled from Liverpool.

Saints fans who attended the Magic Weekend at Anfield on Sunday reported witnessing the disturbance while travelling back from the event.

A spokeswoman for British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to Thatto Heath station on Sunday, May 26 at 8.41pm following reports of a disturbance on board a train.

"Officers quickly attended however the two men involved were believed to have already left the service.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
