TRAFFORD Council has arranged an open day to try and break the taboo around bereavement.

Trafford Bereavement Services has organised the event, which will take place at Altrincham Crematorium and Dunham Lawn Cemetery on Sunday June 23, between 10.30am and 3pm.

David Jennings, Trafford Council’s Bereavement Services Manager, said: “The open day is designed to help people who want to know more about burials and cremations and to provide an opportunity for people to share their experiences.

“We will also try and answer queries people have and provide guidance. In addition we are creating a 'Friends of Altrincham Crematorium and Dunham Lawn Cemetery' and information will be available on how to join us in this venture.”

The day will provide an opportunity for people to meet the Bereavement Services team and other organisations and services connected with the provision of funerals and memorials.

There will be tours of the crematorium and a number of exhibits and activities including calligraphy demonstrations, memorialisation and jewellery stalls.
