A MAN in a white van approached an 11-year-old schoolgirl on her way home from school, police have confirmed.
Officers were called at around 3.20pm yesterday, Tuesday, May 22, to reports that the girl was walking near Newton-le-Willows Primary School in Sanderling Road when a man in a white van spoke to her.
There is no suggestion the man tried to get out of the van or grab the girl.
The girl ran off and reported the incident to her parents and the police were contacted.
Enquiries are on-going to establish the full circumstances and anyone with information is asked to contact police.
Parents of pupils at the school were sent a warning this morning.
